Speaking to the transmission:
Right now you probably have a rebuildable transmission. If you keep driving it until it gets worse you probably will not.
What happens as the rear pinion bearing wears out is that the pinion shaft[about $350] slides forward and the 5th gear output hub[$150] comes on contact with the 5th gear input hub[$100]After this is melted away and the pinion shaft isn't junk already the 4th gear assy [$200] gets forced into the forward bearing sleeve and welds itself not only to the sleeve but to the pinion shaft. What that does is make a near perfect roadblock to getting anything off of the pinion shaft and destroying the transmission.
I know it is hard to stop until it is dead but resist the urge. Or start shopping for another transmission. I have recently torn down about 6 transmissions for spare parts. 5 were driven to failure, no good pinion shafts,4th gears,5th hubs that and about 20 trans rebuilds is how i know.
