86 spg- performance is identical to '86 Turbo... Posted by IrieTom [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: 86 spg, wanting an spg, Wed, 24 Apr 2002 20:34:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
In '86, the SPG package was purely cosmetic. Turbo unit, APC, shocks, springs, swaybars, etc. were all stock turbo parts. If you've driven a 16V 900T, then you've experienced the exact same performance and handling characteristics as an '86 SPG. That said, I bought one because I really like the looks of the car, and have a big stockpile of parts from my previous '86 cars.
I've also added Koni shocks, Jamex springs, Kumho 205/55-15 tires, poly suspension bushings, Group6 (previous incarnation of SPG9) APC box, K&N open-element intake, MSS exhaust, silicon vacuum lines, Magnecor ignition wires, and a bunch of other stuff to make the handling and performance as good or better than ANY stock c900.
