Yup. I've driven almost all OEM 900 combo's. The only one I haven't really thoroughly driven is the 8vt. I drove a pretty beat up 8vt around the block once but I don't really count that:)
I think it depends on your driving situation and how you want to use the car. FPT's are crazy fun, but I really don't like crazy fun on a daily basis. I actually bought an 87 spg last summer. It was fun but wasn't what I was desiring so I decided to put more time into my 86. The LPT thing kinda just happened. Running 4-5psi, makes it feel more like a 6cyl than a turbo. Using the mitsu turbo, there is very smooth transition in power. Using a BTM would even be nicer. My friend has an Audi A4 V6 quattro and I think the engines perform very similar. His might have a little extra power but not much more. I live in the city and every once in awhile get out to the country or find a nice curvy road to really let it rip, so the car fits me perfectly. It definitely has the power where I want it to be. I'm nervous about the setup though b/c I haven't really had a chance to see what boost, RON, and RPM the engine knocks at. I have to setup some knock monitoring equipment and see what is happening.
It's a big decision, How are you going to use the car?
