someone has officially monitored the knock at different psi's of boost and different RON ratings of fuel. We really need to find out where the safe zone of this mod is before everyone starts doing it. Too much boost or low rating fuel w/o any type of boost controller will definitely shorten the life of your engine.
Part wise, I spent around 300-400 on all the parts. I was lucky to find someone who bought a turbo part car who didn't want the turbo parts, so I went half (75.00$) for all the turbo parts (inc oil cooler, injectors). Then I also bought a used Mitsu turbo and larger IC piping (250.00). The last thing was lower rad hose.
I was going to make a detailed DIY but I forgot my digital camera when I did the conversion. SOB.. Oh well, I'm still doing the write up but it just won't be as detailed. So far I started it but it isn't complete so stay tuned. Once I get some knock equipment setup, I'll also post those results. I'm also thinking about getting a few cams and making an adjustable cam gear to go to the dyno with. So we can really find out what cams are best. I probably do the testing on my Lpt and a FPT.
