I would trust mine for sure. I took it last year on a 2000mi trip with no problems at all. It depends on what the mileage is and what repairs have been done and how rigorous the maintenence has been. Common failure issues: check for tell tale signs of headgasket failure, hoses, thermostat, fan switch, fans, alternator, ignition amplifier, fuel pump, fuel pump relay, inner driver (CV) joint. What year is it? If it is an '89 and does not have the remanufactured LH ECU, I would carry a spare for sure. There have been another rash of failures of these lately.
