Swapping leather headrests from an 88 9kT?

Hey everyone
Along with some other stuff I'm trying to retro fit into my 1990 SPG, I'm trying to figure out whether or not an 88 9kT's leather headrests will fit.
They look basically the same in shape and color as the 900 leather headrests but have two vertical stitch marks on them. Looks kinda neat in my opinion. Not too much of a difference, but it would be neat (IMHO) to retro fit them into my 900. Anything, even if it's a small detail, is fun for me. Like my stock side vent grilles I paid like $25 for, just because they're from Todd C's 1988 900S/T "SCANIA". No difference at all. Probably a little more beat up than my original side vent grilles too! I guess I might just be weird ( :
I've heard the headrests are very difficult to remove, but... if I could get my hands on a set for free, in mint condition, will they work? I'm willing to do the work to rip them out, but don't want to have to fabricate any brackets, as they do prevent whiplash. So it could be a safety concern as well.
Any info appreciated!
Thanks all!
Taylor
