Not sure if solved yet Posted by Randy Thatcher [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Randy Thatcher and others...looping idle question..., Boris 88SPG, Wed, 1 May 2002 14:11:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My problem doesn't happen EVERY time. That's the problem. Just like my job in software... It's much easier to solve if the problem is easily reproducable. So, here's what I've done...
Reseated all wires at Distributor cap, reseated cap itself.
Reseated Hall Effect sensor plug at dist. cap.
Cleaned AIC twice, cleaned its electrical contacts.
Reseated AMM connection and used contact cleaner.
Replaced some easy-to-get-to vacuum lines with vacuum line on my garage shelf.
Not related: changed oil, flushed coolant, installed 82C t-stat, changed 3 coolant hoses. In the process I'm sure I unplugged and replugged a few wires around the t-stat housing and temp sensor...
Has the problem happened since all this? No. BUT, i've only fired up the engine about 4 times since doing all this work. The weather has been crap for the convertible (but good for my garden, grass, and flowers)
I'm curious to see what anyone else knows on this one. I'm tempted to swap AMM's from my wife's SPG and see what happens. But the problem won't repeat itself...
