You will want to replace these things:
Distributor cap and rotor (only get the Bosch parts)
Spark Plugs (NGK BCP-6ES ... or is it 5ES) Gap to 0.024 to 0.028"
Spark Plug wires (Bougicord - around $35, so don't be alarmed. They have shielding to keep stray signals from interfering with the knock sensor.) Unless they look absolutely new, replace them.
You can get these parts from the sponsors (sobstory, eEuroparts.com, cybertroll) at reasonable prices.
That's the basic tuneup. Do you have the Torx bits necessary to get the spark plug cover off?
Don't overtighten the spark plugs. As an example of what can happen: A PO of my '88 900S, overtightened one plug and partially stripped the threads. There was an indent in the spark plug cover where the plug blew out of the head. I couldn't get the helicoil off the #2 spark plug and ended up using that one plug for the 3-1/2 years I owned it.
