Naah, but it got your attention, right?!
Anyway, I received this entire package in the mail regarding why automatic transmissions prior to 1972 regularly went for 100's of thousands of miles without failure...sperm whale oil. But since it was outlawed in 1972, rashes of AT failures started around 1975. Can't remember the name of this firm, but they came up with some type of lubricating wax ester to duplicate the sperm whale oil...yeah right.
But wait, the man says. The package included a genuine (looked like one with seals, trademark, everything) Saab automatic transmission service bulletin for the 9K automatic that indicated using this company's automatic transmission fluid additive to quiet noisy transmissions that were otherwise ok, i.e., no burnt fluid or otherwise problematic. The package also had a GM bulletin in it.
I read it and threw it all in the wastebasket.
