Keith,
The Check-engine light isn't on, because I left the egr sensor connected. I didn't want it to go limp-mode on me, so I figured I'd just leave the exhaust and vaccum sides closed, and leave it plugged in. Regarding emissions, we have laws, but no emissions checks, and to be honest, the guy who does my state inspection doesn't open the hood.
I'll double check the cam timing (assuming it stops raining on my lunch break. I checked it every few minutes during the process, and all of the marks stayed dead-on the whole time. I sure hope that isn't it. What are the chances of bending a valve if it's off a tooth? I _really_ don't want to go through that hellish (and expensive) nightmare again.
The base boost thing is wierd. It's possible the engine just isn't running well enough to generate a good exhaust flow?
Thoughts?
-Dan
p.s. Keith: thanks for the advice
