For those with auxilary lights

how do you make use of your lights? I recently got some Hella 550's i mounted inverted on the stock foglight mountings.
I came up with 3 strategies:
1 Set aux lights to complement the low beam light patern and leave them on always at night
2 Set lights abnormaly off to the side to widen the veiwable range for cornering and scanning roadside, leave them on always at night.
3 Set beams way out like highbeams, or further. use when no cars are on the road for godlike vision.
what do you use?
currently i use the 'keep the super cool looking covers on them and wish you actually knew what to do with the lights' strategy
another question: i see always see BMW's around here using the parking lights with aux lights and not having headlights on, mostly around dusk, sometimes at night. Is there a particular meaning to this? I noticed the C900 has this ability and im wondering if its illegal or considered 'BMW' only or something.
thanks
Austin
