Short throw shifter DIY --Amazing results!! 20$

I just recently rebuilt my c900 and finally found a perfect road to test the abilities of the car. So after an active day driving the twisties at high speeds, I decided to shorten the throw of my shifter. The shifter assembly is out of a 91 so it's a little different than the older ones. I used a 0.75" thick aluminum plate to raise the pivot assembly and then reweld the pivot ball 0.75" higher. The result was amazing!! The shifter is stiffer, the throw is shorter, and it goes into gear right away (no searching). And all it cost me was a visit to the scrap yard for some aluminum, hole saw, and some sanding drums. Total Cost was $20US. I couldn't ask for more in the shifter! It just couldn't get better.
I will be doing a DIY write up soon on my website w/ more details on fabrication. Fish is hooking me up w/ an older assembly then so I can fabricate something for those. I have some excess aluminum plates if anyone is interested.
