It acts exactly as you described. I have replaced all my vacuum lines and checked all of the pedal switches. I've traced it down to the ECU. More specifically, the relay in the ECU.
Here's my theory (based on 1 electrical engineering course taken many years ago that was "dumbed" down for us mechanical engineers). I belive the problem is that the relay contacts have worn/ oxidized enough over the years that the current required to pull in and hold them closed is greater than is being supplied once the relay (and other components in the ECU) have warmed up. I've tried cleaning the contacts (not easy to do) and it seems to help for a day or two but then reverts back to it's original condition. I've also noticed that how long it stays engaged seem to vary with temperature, humidity, phases of the moon :) etc...
I've been trying to find a board mount relay that I can replace mine with. If I find one, and it works, I'll post a part number/ source.
