you can purchase a vaccume guage which works exactly like a boost guage but with a negitive scale. you hook it up to any live vaccume hose when the car is running. its extemely simple.
also, a vaccum leak will make a substantial hissing sound. and if left alone long enough can cause damage because it causes the engine to run very lean and that severly raises combustion tempratures.
the lean condition is caused by air passing by the MAF sensor unaccounted for, therefor fuel is not provided in the right proportion.
