I've been on this all winter. 85 900s 4-door. It was totalled in Aug. My 18 yr. old daughter was bummed. Car was super clean. Hit in front by inattentive Taurus babe.Concurrently cracked the head on my nice 83 900s so I stole the 85 engine to fix the 83. 85 needed rad. support, hood, grill, lights and inner fender extentions.Fixed this for < $100 in used parts.Had a core 87 16V engine in my garage so knowing I could count on all you folks to get me thru any tight spots I started my conv. A few comments: used a complete harness-from rad. to tail lights, the headlights and cornering lights are 87,the grill and bumper are 85-looks a little funky but I was too lazy to splice all the light plugs to keep the 85 look and I may add the 87 bumpers and grill at a later date, Left the 85 fuel pump, filter, and lines-made a 2 foot jumper line from the fender filter loc. to the fuel rail per Haynes. bunched up the line on my first try but had no trouble after leaving the line and fittings to warm in the sun first, added hyd. motor mounts-had to drill holes in both driveshaft humps to accept hyd. bracket/ mounts, exhaust is 83T spliced 1 inch behind the oxy. sensor-why 83T you might ask? because it was $8 for intmed. pipe, muff.and tailpipe- OEM Saab -still shiny, used 85 inst. cluster and all functions seem to be O.K. I had hoped to drive it to the May 19 Bay Area Club meeting but I have to have a special smog cert. by the Ca. Bureau of Auto Repair referee. Two week appt. delay- Thanks to all for all the many postings(Justin V.A.- 820+ postings!! to name only one) and all the invaluable links. Also eEuro Parts,Scanwest,Penner Automotive,Saab/Volvo of Rancho Cordova, Pick-n-Pull, U-Pull-it, Andersons Self- Serve, U-Pull-A-Part,Mom,Linda,Dave,Scott,the Man Upstairs etc.
