I'm not sure of what you have on your SPG, Rinker. Where did you get it? I've never heard of the lines folding or collapsing. I drew about twice the engine vacuum on a long length of tubing with my vacuum pump, flexed it around, and it didn't fold or collapse. The wall thickness of the SVH I bought is definitely higher than the rubber tubing I replaced.
I also don't know why yours would fall off, unless they were the wrong size. The ones I installed were very tight on the vacuum nipples; I don't see how they would fall off or even blow off with positive (boost) pressure.
If you replace yours, the line to the FPR should be 3.5mm SVH. Rubber tubing is cheap... you might consider getting some as an interim measure until you can get the right type of SVH. I've never heard of anyone converting permanently from SVH to rubber hose, though. I suspect you have the wrong size on there.
Good luck!
