The crew here suggested autobox service and or checking the fluid to note if it is dark and smells burnt before dumping the cash or the car, thay also suggested changing the fluid. Here is one reply:so if it's floored, it shifts higher rpm than if only 1/4 throttle.
Is the fluid red? ok, if brown and smells 'burnt' it needs to be replaced.

Rich, don't know if this is helpful but the pressure was adjusted from 7.8 bar
to 4.9 bar . I believe it softened the engagement and changed the shift point.

Call a SAAB repair shop to see what service costs. Flush, clean the filter, replace fluid.
NOTE: ONLY USE "TYPE F" TRANSMISSION FLUID. Dexron or other stuff is not good for this old Borg Warner T37 transmission...no matter what anyone says.
