With the car on a level floor place a jackstand or a big brick on each side of the car inline with the front edge of the rim. Make a mark on the stnd or brick. Carefully measure on each side and add it up. Roll the car foward till the back edge of the rims is exactly in line with the spot you measured the front too. If you go to far roll it backwards and foward to the right spot again. the front measurement should be 2 mm (or whatever number you use for toe in, I set mine at 1/16 inch) adjust the rod ends to get this number with the steering wheel straight. This is basically the way my 1980 factory service manual described it.
