I cut a piece of wire off the trailer hitch wire and drove that way for a week waiting for UPS to bring me a new relay. Long wires would have removed the need to open and close the hood.
For thereuare, the fuel pump relay monitors several circuits in the car and has, while not a high failure rate, they do fail. Jumping contact (help me out guys I'm going from memory) 30 to 87B will cause the pump to run constant, key on or off.
