posted on the perf board recently. under hard accel from 3000-3500 rpm i get a hard shaking in the car. stick shifter shakes as well. after that it is smooth. i checked engine mounts (how are they when they are bad?). the solid mounts had the horizontal bolts centered and didn't appear to be sagging. fwiw, they are about 1-1.5 years old. front mount is showing signs of small cracks around base of center bolt in the rubber, but it appears to be normal.
i checked passenger side inner driver. does not appear to be any leakage of grease (no signs of it flung about), area is clean. boot clamp is tight and boost is new. i grabbed the axle and couldn't get any play out of it.
about a year ago, when the new engine went in, we did some minor tranny work (bearings, couple synchros, reverse gear, etc.) and we swapped the inner drivers. fwiw, they did not appear to be worn much.
am i missing something here? is there would something be blatantly obvious if the mounts or drivers were bad? don't really know how else to check the driver other than to replace them with new ones, but that requires money to gamble with. is there anything else that could be wrong, or is everything pointing to the drivers?
lastly, what's the deal with the side engine mounts having some open space on top? why wouldn't they just be solid all the way around?
thank in advance...
