codes... Posted by JimBlake [Email] (#141) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JimBlake) on Thu, 23 May 2002 08:02:46 In Reply to: Check Engine Light, Bill, Thu, 23 May 2002 07:24:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My first guess is either a vacuum leak or a bad knock sensor (or both).
You've got LH 2.4, & Townsend's site has a good explanation for how to retreive error codes. Check the link below. Basically, you ground a jumper wire & watch the check engine light flash a code.
The 4 flashes is the EZK ignition system saying the knock sensor heard spark knocking, & backed off the timing. That doesn't store a code. If you think the engine isn't really knocking, then maybe your knock sensor is bad. Not too expensive from sponsors & easy to change.
The solid lamp 'should' result in a fault code being stored. Retrieve the code & post back. Then it'll be easier for us to guess whats up.

PS. since you say "200000km" it sounds like you're not in the US. Some stuff depends where you are, so let us know if you've got a catalyst & an oxygen sensor in your exhaust...
