Hi. I have a 1988 900 turbo w/~205,000 miles. It starts and runs fine, but I intermittantly get a high idle (the high idle was constant until I cleaned the AIC, now its occasional) or fluctuating idle. Cleaning the AIC did not help my other problem which is stalling at stop lights and sharp turns (any time I have to slow down fairly rapidly). Temperature does not seem to affect this behavior (will stall at first light or after 60 min. of driving) Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be causing this? I'm afraid of getting rear-ended when this happens.
I've tested the air mass meter according to Bentley. Wiring is fine, although I did not see the 4V that is supposed to occur 4 seconds post shut down (I assume I had a good connection(?)). Wire did appear to glow, though. I tried swapping it with one from the local salvage yard, but the replacement w/same part # was surely dead (check engine light received when I plugged it in.)
Also, I've noticed the oil light occasionally hanging on just a second longer just after starting. No light while driving. Although I've got minor oil leaks in the usual Saab places, I'm full on oil. Is information from the oil pressure sending unit related to my above problem at all?
Here's what's been replaced fairly recently that may be relevant:
all visible vacuum hoses (over 5 years, I think I've found them all unless some are really well hidden)
turbo bypass valve (replaced w/new clutch)
O2 sensor
Distributor
plugs/plug wires/cap/rotor
ignition control module
automatic idle control valve (cleaned, not replaced.)
Thanks for any suggestions!
Katie
