Transmission pains

The joy of driving my beloved 900s AT came to an abrupt end about a week
ago. Happened along the freeway when my transmission just stopped. Turned
out that one of the teeth of my torque converter snapped. Fix was $1000USD.
Mechanic replace torgue converter and pump next to it. Oouch... very
painful, alot of money considering I paid about $3500 for it.

$1000 poorer, it seems that my problems have just began. Now my transmission
will not shift to 2nd or 3rd when the engine is cold. It has taken about
5-10mins for it to finally shift into 2nd and 3rd! After that it drives as
though nothing has happened. Transmission has been very strong prior to
this.

Is this a $2000, new tranny fix? Help. I am trying to stay calm.
