No, don't think so. The silver metal female coupling on the cable side has the inner drive cable protruding from it. I blindly squirted the graphite into the female coupling and don't think much stuck to the protruding drive cable tip (square), so no I don't think it physically improved the fit of drive cable into the speedo. I was mostly annoyed that the cable didn't budge at all when I pulled on it, as I thought from previous posts that's how it should be relubed; I grabbed it w a couple diff pliers/forceps to no avail.
I really didn't expect my dousing the coupling w graphite would do anything - was just frustrated and, "Heck, it's apart now so....". But surprise - it did.
Did you try lubing yours before? What happened? Like you say, were you able to mobilize your inner cable at all?
