I talked to specialist foreign car mechanics, a chemist, a physicist and a guy standing in the coolant isle at WalMart about this topic. I went to the specialist foreign car guy in town to buy the Mercedes coolant and he said I was wasting my money. He said "...buy just about any coolant on the market now and it will be fine...provided you flush once a year!" Its actually pretty hard to find a coolant with phosphates! The chemist and the physicist both agreed that coolants are largely the same. They also both agreed with what the specialist mechanic said about changing the coolant once a year. I am about due for the annual flush. My car's coolant looks perfect, I don't have cooling problems and I am not going to think twice about flushing out and replacing the $3.78 per gallon WalMart's SuperTech coolant. (BTW ... coolant is probably made by one of the companies that sells their coolant under a "major" label...)
