Hey, it DOES run! I have not looked at the manual. The ECU is tied into the A/C circuit only to up the throttle effectively by opening the AIC a little more when it gets a 12V signal from the A/C system (I am pretty sure). Perform the standard fan checks as espoused by KevinK here. He has posted them many times. Does the idle speed go up when you turn on the A/C? IIRC, the A/C fan will come on if the A/C circuit is energized and is not directly controlled by the ECU. If the A/C does not come on, I would do a diagnosis of that system independently. You may have a blown A/C fuse or an open connection somewhere on the A/C circuit. I do not know about the upshift light nor its circuitry, but the later LH2.4 has it in the ECU whereas the earlier ones have it controlled some other way (vacuum?). As the '88 was a transition year, it may be a bit different. I've got a '90 N/A ECU in an '89 N/A. It works reasonably well, but I do get a C/E light with certain AMMS. Same as what Kooch said that he experienced as I did get it from him. It seems to have a weird idle issue which I will diagnose in a week or 2 I'll let the group know what I find out.
