I'm not saying the sensor can't be bad, but if the wire from the sensor shorts to ground, you'll get the same thing. I once pinched the wire under the alternator bracket, grounding it & resulting in no signal getting to the EZK system.
The wire runs along the LH side of the engine block, under the alternator & intake manifold, 'towards' the connector for the AMM. If the insulation crumbles, & the wire shorts to ground, you'd get the same problem.
Repairing insulation on that wire, or wrapping in some kind of wire loom, still is kind of laborious, since its buried.
