I bought one. I believe it was called a "cricket". You press on it, against the belt, and when it clicks you can read the tension. It's a really simple tool that I think costs around $5 or so. I just bought it from a "Carquest" shop in Washington (state of). Haven't seen them anywhere else. I used it on a new set of belts and it seemed to work fine. Haven't heard any noise from the belts yet.
