If you're talking about the small (yellow?) wire, pull it off & pinch the connector with a needle-nose-pliers so it's tighter. None of the starter wires should be 'loose'. Be careful. Before you put a wrench on the big red wire, disconnect the battery negative post. (Its not July 4th yet.)
First make sure all the wires are secure, then think about which part of the starter is flaky.
The big can is the starter motor, the little one on top is the solenoid. I'm not sure what they're calling the "drive"; maybe the Bendix & pinion gear which sticks into the bellhousing. I didn't know that was available by itself...
