1. If it is not a sealed battery, make sure all the cells have distilled water in them up to the fill marks. I have had occasions where I have forgotten mine and the water will drop low.
2. Batteries will go on you rather quickly. Don't discount you may need a new one. Summer time is really rough on them....
3. At least on my SAAB, the + power cable for the lights and starter are separate and the ground is a single cable....so unless you have a bad ground connection or a bad + terminal connection on the battery I don't think it is a cable resistance problem.
4. With nothing turned on your battery voltage should be up to 12.5 V. Anything less is probably a weaken battery.
