Other than the hoses, the pump itself is prone to leaking along the sems which connect the two halves together. There's an inner part which is the pump proper, then there's the outer casing which contains the fluid. All that keeps that seam from leaking is an O ring. Heat and abuse of the pump can cause it's demise. Abuse of the pump is excessive cross-lateral movement, say, when replacing the AC or alternator belts, and tightening of the pump belt itself. I've been guilty of roughhousing the pump while doing various right side engine work - exhaust manifold, starter, head gasket work. The results were a leaky pump along the seam. To fix it I completely dismantled it (seperated the two halves), cleaned the mating surfaces and applied a silicone sealant along the entire O ring before rejoining the two halves. The pump hasn't leaked since.
