Much like the love/hate relationship many SAAB owners have for their particular 8V, 16V, S, T, Aero, SPG, ragtop, et al, women have the same reaction when they find out a guy drives a SAAB. They either get it or they don't. Couple of stories here...
Good frind of mine, a lovely green eyed Italian girl, has family overseas in the music biz. Her cousin would often visit for business reasons and stay at her mother's home in Griffith Park. For the duration of his visit he'd always rent a car. In 92 he decided to instead lease a car and arrangements were made to park it at her mother's house. His choice: a yellow 900T ragtop. It was my friend's "job" to drive it around once in a while to keep the fluids circulating, the battery juiced and have the tires checked. Tough job for a pretty woman to be driving around Los Angeles in a ragtop. She once picked me up on x-mas eve to drive around looking at the seasonal decorations. She, a former BMW owner, and a damn good driver in general, loved that SAAB. So naturally, when I bought that first used one in 95, she approved heartily.
Second story: I do live comedy taping in the evenings for individual comics, agencies, etc. Last week I did a "new faces" showcase taping at a high profile venue. Packed room. Among the audience members was a well known, infamous actually, late night TV show host, there to support one of his "discoveries." After the show the "discovery" (a smokin hot gorgeous black girl) rushed up to me and asked how soon she could get the tape. She would even drive up into the remote local canyon where I live and work to get it. So we made plans to meet for lunch the following day.
She pulled up just as I was about to enter the place. She drove a sporty American ragtop of recent vintage. I don't recall which make (could have been a Mustang), but it was a nice one. We ended up having a nice lunch together (a bonus. she was hungry). Afterwards while standing next to my car as she wrote down her email address, she looked at it and said, "This your car? I love these classic SAABs. Looks like you take real good care of it too. Hmm, and you're wired for sound I see. Yeah, you like it loud, don't you. Me too!"
There you go, two examples of SAAB loving women.
