If I had to repaint with spray can, I'd use a flat black all over. That paint seems to dry evenly. It's a different look, is easy to clean when dirty, and it's black. I currently have a high quality (the best that Sheib could offer) dark blue on most of the car, with a flat black below the side rubber trim - bottom third of the entire car. A two tone, if you will. The turbo air dam is also flat black.
My grandfather, a life-long steel mill boiler engineer, repainted his 1972 AMC Hornet hatchback with a paintbush and some leftover house paint. Looked hideous. I owned it for awhile. Ran great with that straight six. Manual choke. Started within first crank cycle regardless of the coldest Ohio winter temps outside. Ever start a car in -15F below temps? If it doesn't start within the first few crank cycles, it ain't gonna start. Gotta squirt starter fluid in the carb before you even try.
