It took many hours to complete. Used Prestone product. Drain and put in powder and fill and run for 1 hour, then drain and put in neutralizer and fill and run for 10 min., then drain and fill and run for 5 min., then drain and I put garden hose in every water hose I could fit it to.
Quite a bit of grite appeared in res. tank after the 1 hour run with the product. My car is at 190K and I don't know if it was flushed before I had it. This process would have been much quicker if you didn't need to let the engine cool down between runnings. Anyone know how often a water system cleaning flush should be done? I'm eager to see how much the running temp. goes down as there was a lot of crap in there! How much do shops charge for a system cleaning flush? I was waiting at Midas one day and this guy was flushing a truck. It was parked in the lot an he was running the engine and it stated to boil over all over the parking lot! He ran out after someone told him and shut engine off. I bet the owner of the truck never heard about it. The moral is, if you want some things done right you better do it yourself. A friends jeep had the engine lock up going to L.A. because the dork at Jiffy Lube left a plastic plug in drain hole which fell out! Best, KB.
