Yet Another Inner Drive Repair Question

When I tapped the inner driver out of the housing the inner bearings came out also. Any tricks to getting these bearings seated again? The twin saab site shows a press being used - but my housing has an oil splash lip that interferes with using a press. I tried pounding it in with a brass punch -but then it came out again when I pushed the inner driver back into the housing from the other direction. This is getting frustrating.
