I my case I took a piece of shim shingle and a small flathead screw driver. Set the shingle next to the emblem, and slightly get under the edge of it. Be SURE not to get near the paint and push the driver in (it WILL scratch very easy!!) Then just pry upward until the tape streches, then move it around it till it comes off. I had NO problem taking my 12 year old tape off. Just go to the store and get some Goo Gone or Goof Off. Spray it on, let it soak for a few, then respray in a couple of min. DO NOT use a razor blade NO MATTER how hard the tape is! It is not worth the risk of scrapes! I just soaked my tape well, then simpily used my fingernail. I think that you could use something softish like a piece of the shingle, but I will leave that one up to you.
Oh, you say that your paint is not in good condition. Warning: If you remove your emblems, you will most likely see the nice fresh paint below which has not been out in ther sun ever! (Just fair warning)
Good Luck and let me know if you need anything else...
