I had a Saab mech listen to this metallic rattle I have coming from most likely the tranny. Sounds
kind of like chains hanging down from the car. In between the rattling there is definite pinion
bearing whine. So this means I need a new pinion bearing at the least.
1. Should I pay to have a new pinion bearing put in and risk what else might need replacing at the
time? Plus the tranny already has 170,000 miles on it.
2. Should just buy a tranny from Erikson which comes with a one year warranty and pay the
mech to put it in?
Any ideas?
Thanks
Nathan
