sudden loss of performance... longish

Any one out there have any insights?
'90 SPG, running fine one day, lousey performance the next. complete tune up 2 months ago.
Symptoms: needs more pedal than normal to maintain a given road speed or to climb hills. As a result the vacumm/boost guage is closer to the vacumm - boost devide than usual. Full throttle performance seems ok to about 3200 rpm then tapers off markedly, then just stops accelerating. Never touches the orange on the boost guage although it normally runs about 1/8 inch into it. Gas milage stinks also.
The previous day I filled up (93 octane) at a "discount" place on the interstate near home. Used up 1/3 tank & then topped off w BP 92 to see if anything changed by diluting the tank of discount stuff. didn't seem to do anything. Almost feels like a massive leak between the mass air flow sensor & the throttle plate since the vacumm on the road is lower than norm but the idle and trailing throttle vacumm is normal. I completely tore down all the intake plumbing to check for leaks; split boots, cracked intercooler, etc. Nothing...
I'm on a plane to CLE later this morning, but plan to dig into the thing again upon return the 4th. Any words of wisdom will be greatly appreciated. It's a dismal feeling to be driving the beast, get stuck behind Ma & Pa Kettle on a back road, and not quite dare to pass......
TIA
