Monster,
I tried using the conversion kit last night and had a few problems. I thought I was adding the conversion oil to the LP side (turns out it was the LP side) and when I pulled the quick connect fitting off, the oil started sprayig out of the compressor hose fitting. After rereading the Bentley, I figured I had put the oil into the HP side and added refrigerant to the other connection (actually the HP connection! got lucky). When I took the pressure reading after the first can, it was pretty high as you can imagine. Now after reading your post I see what my problem was. Should I open the system and change out the filter/dryer and expansion valve (the system did cool but I didn't run it long for fear of causing any damage)? If so, will I need to add another can of the oil? If I don't open the system, should I take the car to have it evacuated (does this mean another can of oil?)? Lastly, is there a way to change/repair the LP hose fitting or do I need to replace the hose? Thanks.
