Hello,
I have had base boost only for a number of months now. Turbo is 1 year old, replaced last spring. Worked fine for about 6 months then I noticed it was base only 1 day, don't know if it happened sudden;y or gradually. I just lived with it for 6 mos., but now want to solve it. It goes to the bottom of the yellow, just a hair past white, but barely. I checked the APC solenoid, it clicks. Then following Justin van Abrahams FAQ, I went straight to the final step and unplugged the "w" port, the one that goes to the wastegate. I drove it a bit and there was absolutely no change. Now the FAQ says that means turbo problems, but is that necessarily the only possibility? I hear it whining nicely like it is spinning freely, and there is no smoke at all (that was the original reason I changed the turbo - clouds of smoke). PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!! Any ideas? I could check things like the brake and cruise control switches, but wouldn't they only have an effect through the APC soleonoid, meaning that unplugging the 'w' port would have temporarily 'solved', or at least canceled problems with these devices. HELP!!!!!!!!
thanks.
