help finding the cause of noise at wheel Posted by Ryan [Email] ![]() ![]() |
hey everyone,
this is getting irritation. i've had the car to two mechanics so far,
and no progress in finding out to get rid of this noise.
basically from the front passenger side wheel area the car makes a noise.
it sounds like some kind of rubbing noise. it was proposed that it
could be larger aftermarket tire/wheels rubbing the springs, but it does
it if you turn left or right.. and sometimes at low or high speed.
the next idea was the wheel bearing, but both mechanics feel this isn't
the problem since it is intermittent, and is sometimes not even audible.
they said this would be a much louder grating sound all the time.
the second mechanic thought it was maybe the brake splash guards too
close, so he tried to pull them back some. they all don't think it is
a CV joint, because it doesn't make that popping/clicking sound.
Could it be a problem with the differential? I mean, it almost sounds
like the wheel rubbing the fender type of sound, but it sure isn't doing
this..
not having a good old car week ;]
thanks for any advice on things to check out.
