Apparently there are two special tools avalible... the 8390023, and the 8791618. eEuroparts.com has only the 8791618, but states "*NOTE: Some early 900's with the original clutches used a different pressure plate with a smaller inner diameter, which cannot be used with this tool"

How do you know which one to order, my car is an 88 900s which is not considered an early 900, is it? However, I was looking at my pressure plate yesterday, and if my memory serves me (which it often doesn't)the inner diameter is fairly small without a corresponding pressure plate finger at each compressable finger which I belive the tools squeezes between. (In other words it's Inner Dia is round) Which is unlike several pictures I have seen of other pressure plates.
Does this sound right to anyone? Do I need the older tool? Have I been smoking crack?
Also, Is it uncommon for the pressure plate to have a bunch of surface rust on it?
All suggestions/comments apprecitated!
