Hi All:
vehcle has been running well for the past many years. Performed complete tuneup about a month ago which resulted in a noticable performance gain. The beast must have been slowly degrading w/o my noticing it.
Anyway, a couple of days ago, out of the blue it started having very noticable problems. Good idle, easy starting, etc. BUT; the boost performance is way down, on the interstate it takes more throttle than normal to maintain a give road speed, and the boost stops at about 3/4. It used to go 10% into the red reliably. Just doesn't have the zoom it normally has.
I've disassembled and checked all the intake plumbing and vacumm lines, rechecked the ignition settings, no fault codes stored, and gone through all the APC components one at a time with a mitivac and a digital volt/ohm meter. Everything seems to be as it should.
The only thing I can possibly think of is a bad tank of gas from a discount place, or the exhaust is partially plugged. Added a can of cleaner/octane boost, and 3/4 tank of BP premium.
Now the boost in the lower 3 gears stops at about 3/4, although the higher gears will go to the yellow/orange border but still w/o the normal performance.
Any thought will be greatly appreciated!
