I did the Taurus cupholder in the upper DIN slot of my SPG. It's OK, but there is a better way to go. My complaint with this cupholder is it won't hold a 20oz bottle. My drink of choice is Mt. Dew in a 20oz, so I'm kinda screwed with this cupholder.
Get a set of cupholders from http://www.gowesty.com I put them in front of each door handle of my convertible. They screw in easily, and I just pulled the side panel off, lined everything up, marked with masking tape, drilled pilot holes, and screwed 'em in.
They adjust for coffee cup, 20oz bottle, can, etc. and they fold up nicely. I think I paid about $12 each. Take a close look at the picture and you'll see them. Driver's side is open, passenger side is closed.

go to Search, search for cup holder
I got the "OE style".
