Hey, my 87 SPG does the same thing, so I don't drive it. The tranny works like a dream, it's just really hard to find the gears. I've heard that from 87-up there is a spring inside the tranny somewhere, but 86-down had the spring built into the shifter. Everyone has suggested to me that I should retrofit an older style return spring. I'd kinda rather have it the right way, but I don't know how to get at this supposed spring in the tranny. I was wondering myself if it is something that can be gotten to by removing one of the inspection plates. Maybe I ought to just drop 5 or 6 viagra into the tank on the next fill up.
