I am trying to trouble shoot my Anti-lock Braking System. When I short the 2-pole connector in the procedure described below, the Anti-Lock light flashes one time. Is there a code associated with a single flash? The Bentley’s Service Manual doesn’t have any codes.
Thanks,
Matt

In message 8408 I posted a question on retrieving the codes of the ATE anti
lock breaking system. From the replies I got, I conclude more people are
suffering, without a clue. Browsing through my friendly dealer's service
bulletins revealed the following. On ATE ABS systems from 1990 onwards, any
error is memorised internally. The code can be polled using a simple
switch, to be connected to the 2-pole lose connector on the left hand side
in the compartment of the ABS electronic module. The wires to this
connector are black and grey-blue. Procedure: Short the contacts, using the
switch. Switch on the ignition. Open the switch. The anti lock light now
starts blinking. Write down the code. Close the switch and open again. If
the code is different, write it down. Continue this way until all the
stored codes have been retrieved. As mentioned in post 8408, the electrical
systems manual contains a table to interpret the codes.
I hope this is useful.
