i recently acquired my new baby, an 85 900T in need of a little bit of love. anyway, long story short, when i bought it the guy told me that every once in a while it would randomly spit/sputter/stall (this was, of course, after he had my money). after a month and replacing the fuel filter and pump and checking the relays, vaccuum hoses ntc sensor and such, i'm having a heck of a time even deciding if it's mechanical or electrical. i just replaced the fuel pump today. tonight i took it out to test it. there's a fairly steep hill about a quarter mile from my house and i decided to go up it. car usually does it fine in fourth so i gave it plenty of gas and as i started to go up the car spat a few times. i hope it was just air in the line but i'm hesitant to believe so after having let it idle for about 5 min before i went anywhere with it. next part of the story, i go down the hill, out through town on the other end. i notice that when i get on it in first the fasten seatbelt light comes on. i keep driving and i think it spat once more when i gassed it and then it stopped that. but the seatbelt light thing kept happening. i also noticed that as i flicked my high beams off and on for oncoming traffic, i would feel small surges of power increase or drop. they were too slight to even tell which it was doing. so, the longer i drive, the more of these electrical gremlins dissapear. first the lights stops affecting engine performance and then the seatbelt light stops coming on when i gas it in first. by the time i got it home it was fine except for idling crappy again. the electrical dissapearing disturbances may have come from me swapping my spare computer in and it getting used to the car but i don't really know.. i'm really at a loss here...
