I've just recently noticed some strange noises emanating from the rear of my '92 900S.....

(1) while driving at low speeds (<40mph) with the windows open, I can definitely hear a clanking/rattling noise from the rear of the car when the roads are not smooth. each rattle corresponds with a bump in the road.

(2) when approaching a stop from any speed with the windows open or closed, I hear a loud 'CLUNK' sound - only once per stop.

I've visually inspected the underside of the car, but I cannot see anything loose/broken. My next step will be to put the car up on a jack to get a closer look. I'm still not sure if these two symptoms are even related (I seem to recall #2 occurring for some time before noticing #1, but that could have been due to the fact that my windows have to be open to hear #1).

Any suggestions as for what to look for?
