I just replaced all the hoses in the cooling system on my 92 900s last saturday. It took me around 3.5 - 4 hours total, some of the hose collars were really difficult access, but it wasnt as bad as i thought.

in any case, regarding your question, i went with mackay hoses from eEuroParts, because i think i cut the cost to around 50% of genuine saab parts. What i discovered is that the Mackay hoses are a little thinner for the big hosess (and hence a bit softer). I had heard of this from another guy who went the same way. I have no problems (after 3 days :P), but he said he was going strong after about a year. There might be issues in the life of the hoses after a long time, but unless the saab ones last twice as long, for the price i paid, i would replace them again in 5 years if thats what it takes.

my original saab hoses were at 120k, and still no failure, but the upper radiator hoses in particular looked a little unhappy. I figured preventative maintenance is always a good thing.

i took some pictures, so at some point i'll throw them up on a web page and get the link posted. if anyone wants to see pictures, email me and i can try to arrange something sooner than later.

note: its a pretty easy job, but a few hard to reach screws. Thats the only thing i could really see the pics being useful for, other than to prove that i actually did it :P
