Didn't have a ton of time last night but took a quick look at the turn signal switch removal. Today ordered no-cruise version from Sobstory (decided just to buy the new one, might try the retrofit option on the old one once I get it out).It looks easy enough to do the switch but I now have a couple of questions. This is my first real (if this can be considered "real")DIY job so I want to ask before I start pulling the car apart.

1.Currently have cruise but it has been broken for some time. Thus the reason for getting the new non-cruise switch. When I looked below the steering wheel it looks like I can change the switch without moving the knee bolster but can't seem to find where the cruise wires come out. (I am guessing that these are the ones for the cruise 4 wires brown,green, yellow and I think red, that come out of the stalk rather than the pulg)
It looks like disconnecting them properly might involve knee bolster removal which seems to be a PITA (from previous posts). So I am considering just cutting the cruise wires. Could someone confirm that these 4 wires are the cruise wires (wouldn't want to cut the wrong ones).

2.Does the plug for the other wires just pull off the back of the switch? Looks like it but I didn't want to break it. Are there any locking tabs, etc? The wires don't seem to have a whole lot of play in them so I don't know how far I will be able to lower the bracket.

3. Is there a way to lower the knee bolster without fully removing it. There are three screws (pretty long 2 to the left of the steering wheel, 1 to the right) that go up into the dash. Would taking these out allow me to lower the bolster a bit or would I have to use the complete method outlined in previous posts?
